Breaking Out [Lucid]

The dream below is the first lucid dream that I have recorded in my dream journal, but not the first that I have experienced. This is a good example of the trouble I have "controlling" lucid dreams, as I usually get too caught up in just observing. ((^_^))

[12/14/2002]

I was sitting alone in a dark, dreary bar, when I realized that I was dreaming. I decided that I would try to see if I could find a way out of my dream and into someone else’s… So I walked up to a bare wall and started digging with my bare hands. I dug a tunnel that was several yards deep (at least), and then emerged onto a bright, beautiful beach landscape. There were people everywhere and hundreds of birds flying in various formations in the sky. I looked around and said aloud “I’m in someone else’s dream!” I ran around asking random people “Is this your dream?” Many of them just looked at me like I was crazy, but several answered with a simple “No.” Then I saw my youngest sister (Kim) walking with a few of her friends. I ran up to her and asked if this was her dream and she casually said “Yes,” then strolled off along the beach. I just stood in the sand, gawking and enjoying the scene…

  1. I love it! It would never occur to me to do something like that (find my way into someone else's dream). Very beautiful :)
Two tips for gaining more control where you're lucid:
    1) Spinning around! So if you see someone doing that in your dream it might be some other dreamer who has gone lucid and has landed in your dreamscape :)
    2) Look at your hands. Actually if you start doing this regularly when you're awake while asking yourself "Am I dreaming?", it's even more effective (both in going lucid more often and retaining lucidity).
